Starting life as a successful online retailer, we expanded in 2017 to form magic42 - an eCommerce development agency. Since then, our collaborative team has helped numerous businesses with our unique positioning, helping to evaluate, build and integrate eCommerce platforms. Having been with magic42 and their international eCommerce sister company Mobile Fun for nearly a decade now, I have observed, taken part in and admired the progress magic42 has made. The positive atmosphere, the team spirit to help one another, the drive to succeed at even the most complex of problems and the laughter and joy at our social gatherings.
Collaborative working
We operate in a hybrid-remote environment that gives us the best of both worlds. Every week, we hold Collaboration Days where we work together, share knowledge and tackle problems as a team. We run weekly eCommerce and technical workshops alongside business hacks, ensuring we're constantly upskilling both individually and collectively. Tools like Notion, GitHub and Google Chat help us document expertise, share feedback and maintain best practices across the team.
Continuous professional development
We're committed to the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and personal growth of our team at magic42. Each team member gets 10% of their weekly time dedicated to learning via Smart Learning Plans (SLPs). This has enabled our team to gain Magento qualifications, develop project management capabilities and master Agile methodologies.
Social events
We're an open and fun-loving team beyond our professional work, which is why we host regular social outings. Alongside team lunches on our Collaboration Days, we hold monthly social events around Birmingham. Recent favourites include F1 Arcade racing, bowling, SpaceVR experiences, social sports, escape rooms and go-karting, to name a few. We also celebrate the year together with an annual Christmas party.
