So that Chemist.net (Chemist) could provide products both B2B and B2C, we built an order-approval workflow in Magento's backend. This enables a split between regular orders and ones that require pharmaceutical approval. Customers can then fill out the necessary consultation information, which is sent to pharmacists for approval of the sale.

We built a system that provides separate unit calculations for tablets, liquids and more. This automatically measures the price per unit, such as providing the price for one tablet in a pack of 24. Customers can see this on each applicable product page, helping to make informed purchasing decisions.

Using the LexisNexis API, we built an age verification solution. This required customers to log in to their accounts and provide their registered age to purchase certain restricted products. Upon purchase, the API sends a request to LexisNexis to verify the customer's age and confirm their eligibility as a valid customer. This information is then passed back to Magento, where the order processor can approve or decline the order based on the response received from LexisNexis.

We integrated Trust Payments as a payment gateway. Now, customers can pay with a variety of payment methods, with global banks providing a single point of entry for all transactions. This makes transactions more accessible for both customers and payment providers.

By connecting our eCommerce AI tool, we generated a range of Search Engine Optimisation techniques for Chemist’s PLPs. These include meta titles, meta descriptions, titles, category page copy and product page descriptions, which utilise key search terms and keywords directly from Google Search Console and are reviewed by our experts. Our AI tool integration has not only improved page visibility but also enhanced customer navigation to the pages they want.

We integrated Chemist.net’s website with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP to enable automatic stock imports and lead-time stock message logic. This enables the import of a stock CSV file, reducing human error and saving time across manual stock sources.

As part of our Magento integrations, we migrated Chemist.net’s marketing system to Klaviyo to leverage Klaviyo’s eCommerce automation. When integrated across the client’s multiple sites, including vetpharmacy.co.uk, automated pop-ups display key marketing messages and encourage newsletter sign-ups to grow customer retention.

We rolled out Fastly for this multi-site Magento set-up to provide strong protection against bots and scraping tools. Fastly also enables content to be served from its global infrastructure, allowing shorter content load times and a faster website for customers.
